And no matter what software you use, your success in creating realistic-looking illumination, shadows and textures depends on your professional lighting and rendering techniques. I bought it used, and it has great general ideas for setting scenes up in 3d software packages, it’s platform neutral and more high level.

There’s a more modern approach to many topics, such as starting with a linear workflow and why that matters, and including technology like ptex and unbiased renderers.
