The ending felt rushed and I expected the storyline to jump 10 more years so that we’d see Enitan as an older woman but what annoyed me the most about the ending is how she just left her husband Niyi without an explanation when throughout the novel, we’d been privy to what goes on in Enitan’s mind. Sure, the book opens inone year after the end of the Biafran war, and ends in Yet, the importance of religion to Mama Enitan is strong as she has lost her son to disease, suffers through a bad everythihg and is subject to the dual pressure put on all the Nigerian women that result from colonization and sexist societal attitudes; she turns to religion as one would self-medicate with drugs, alcohol or sexual everthing as an escape from reality.

This book just kept giving. The characters she uses and how they relate and interact with each other brings across a certain perspective and reality, more often that not, we as individuals face and decide how to handle.

Enitan just tells us her lifestory but I don’t really see a plot. Also, the section takes place in scenes showing us all the action awesome.
There is nothing tying all these scenarios together, except that they involve the same character and that the challenge of being a modern woman in Nigeria is a prominent theme.
