Each chapter is divided into two parts, wherein the pilosophische part the live of the philosopher is described partly anecdotal and second part explains their respective philosophical ideas. I would even go so far as to say that there is hardly any easier text which satisfies the requirements of a serious introduction to philosophy.

Many quotations from biographers, friends, and foes in the first part, and of the philosophers themselves in the second part provide variety. Perhaps philosophy is not the answer with a capital A.
