Despite reading through half the reviews, I still can’t recall anything about this book. Hannah and her family make even the craziest, most dysfunctional family look normal by comparison. She has Jason who is ready and willing to marry her.

I just wish it would have had a bit more of a rush to it, something to make it a little more exciting or intense. Jason agrees to give Hannah another chance if she promises to resolve her intimacy issues, visit a therapist and make amends with Jack, her ex-husband, who’s now a successful theater agent.
Why do authors keep doing that to me? That doesn’t mean Being Committed didn’t throw a few beinng my way. I didn’t really enjoy how this author wrote. I enjoy Anna Cojmitted but the more I read by her the more I notice a sameness to her protagonists.
I can understand her views on life and opinions but the way she just kept rambling on and on and on was frustrating. Both were about unlikeable single-gal detectives though “Mystery” was set in Irelandcommitged the glass-half-full theme prevails.
I just couldn’t give it up, because I felt like Commmitted should finish it, I don’t know why! Too many books with the potential to be read and too little time to trudge through this one! The book seemed to be a book about nothing, but I kept reading as the author has a style that begs the reader to keep going, and as fast as one can. Preview — Being Committed by Anna Maxted. This one was more on the chick littiness of chick lit.
Anyhow there were some funny moments in the book, such as when Jason proposed to Hannah. Then, ona romantic weekend retreat to committde faux-ancient castle,Jason proposes marriage, leaving Hannah with nochoice but the obvious: It’s mostly ramblings and random thoughts by Hannah. The story itself however didn’t have a lot of action or gravity to it. Emotionally these women are train wrecks.
Nov 23, Merredith rated it it was ok Shelves: I loved Maxted’s Running in Heels and in fact reread it often. So not too bad overall. I had the sense of urgency in her storytelling style. The humour helped to redeem the book. Paperbackpages. Is she really the emotional retard that Jason thinks she is? Witty, sarcastic, self-deprecating and clever, this is platinum-class chick lit.
Plus it was constantly up and down, up and down, like a movie that never ends. The author went on long tangents about back stories of the characters, but each one was jumbled in the middle of another.
That is not to say I did not enjoy it. But that just doesn’t happen in real life, at least not overnight. Initially, I enjoyed the idea of her having to reach out to Jack and make amends. So she sets out to win her back her man but he has a lot of demands now that he has her where he wants her.
I love Anna Maxted’s writing I loved this book! It definitely wasn’t terrible or anything but the plot was also a little weird. Jan 20, Karen rated it it was ok.
I’m a raddled old divorcee consumed with bitterness and regret. The writing style is what gripped me and kept me going, but scratching my head at the content at the same time. To ask other readers questions about Being Committedplease sign up. I would expect more doubts and confusion rather than instant change of mind and heart. I’ve grown accustomed to having at least a vague idea of where things are going in Maxted’s novels meaning, I can predict how our protagonist will grow and guess with whom she’ll go riding off into the sunset.
